This project located at Renfrew, Scotland, United Kingdom, demonstrated oxyfuel technology on a full-scale 40-megawatt burner. The goal of the project was to gather sufficient data to establish the operational envelope of a full-scale oxy-fuel burner and to determine the performance characteristics of the oxy-fuel combustion process at such a scale and across a range of operating conditions. Data from the project is input for developing advanced computer models of the oxy-fuel combustion process, which will be utilized in the design of large oxy-fuel boilers.
Recognized by the Carbon Sequestration Leadership Forum (CSLF) at its London meeting in October 2009.
