This was a multifaceted project that had activities at various sites in Europe, in three main areas: strategy for carbon dioxide (CO2) reduction, post-combustion capture, and CO2 storage performance and risk assessment studies. The goal was to reduce the cost of post-combustion CO2 capture and to develop and validate, in both public and private partnerships, all the innovative technologies needed to capture and store CO2 in a reliable and safe way. The tests showed the reliability and efficiency of the post-combustion capture process.
Recognized by the Carbon Sequestration Leadership Forum (CSLF) at its Melbourne meeting in September 2004.
