INEEL Developing Advanced Materials for Power Systems
-
Materials Development for Fossil Energy Systems - The Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL) is developing low-cost and low-density intermetallic alloys based on Fe2Al with an optimum combination of strength, ductility, weldability, and corrosion resistance for use as components in advanced fossil energy conversion systems. Emphasis is on the development of iron aluminides for heat recovery applications in coal gasification systems. DOE is fully funding this $1.45 million project.
