Arizona Companies Evaluating Hydrogen-Fueled Engines, Hydrogasification
-
Investigation of Hydrogen-Fueled Internal Combustion Engine Durability - Electric Transportation Engineering Corporation, Phoenix, AZ will evaluate the durability of state-of-the-art hydrogen internal combustion engine design in both field and laboratory applications. Results of the durability evaluation will be compared to current gasoline internal combustion engine standards and recommendations to reduce durability risk factors. DOE is funding $1.25 million toward this $1.81 million project.
-
Hydrogasification Process Using Western Coals - Arizona Public Service, Phoenix, AZ will develop and demonstrate (at engineering scale), a coal hydrogasification-based process for co-producing substitute natural gas and electricity with near-zero emissions. The process will capture and sequester 90 percent of the CO2 emissions from the power production portion, and will demonstrate the ability to use low-rank Western coals. DOE is funding $10.2 million of this $14.8 million project.
