The Office of Fossil Energy gives notice of receipt of an application filed on January 10, 2012, by Gulf Coast LNG Export, LLC (Gulf Coast), for long-term, multi-contract authorization to engage in exports up to the equivalent of 2.8 Bcf/d (approximately 1,022 Bcf/yr) of LNG. Gulf Coast requests authorization for a 25-year period to commence on the date of first export or 8 years from the date of issuance of the authorization requested by this application, whichever is sooner.  Gulf Coast proposes to export domestically-produced LNG from a natural gas liquefaction facility and LNG export terminal located at the Port of Brownsville in Brownsville, Texas, which it plans to develop, to any country which has or in the future develops the capacity to import LNG via ocean-going carrier, and with which trade is not prohibited by U.S. law or policy.
