RMOTC Receives Federal Laboratory Consortium Award

One of Two Organizations Receiving Award for Breakthrough Coalbed
Methane Technology

Washington, DC - The Department of Energy's Rocky Mountain Oilfield Testing Center is the 2006 recipient of the Federal Laboratory Consortium for Technology Transfer award for its breakthrough research on coal bed methane dissolved gas evaluation technology.

RMOTC, located in Casper, Wyo., collaborated on the innovative research with WellDog, Inc., Laramie, Wyo., which resulted in the commercialization in 2005 of WellDog's Critical Gas Content(TM) service that indicate areas where CBM will produce more gas faster with less water production.  The "Outstanding Partnership" award took place at the FLC Mid-Continent Meeting.  RMOTC manager Doug Tunison and WellDog CEO Wayne Greenberg accepted the awards on behalf of their organizations.

A downhole methane sensing tool, developed by WellDog, was tested at RMOTC's Teapot Dome Field test site.  Following WellDog's specifications, RMOTC configured a special well and fluid column and allowed WellDog exclusive use and unlimited access to the well.  The two groups have the opportunity to continue their partnership at RMOTC's recently completed large bore test wells with test simulations of CBM producing zones.

RMOTC offers the petroleum industry access to an operating oilfield for testing a wide range of petroleum-related technologies.  WellDog develops chemical sensing technologies for natural gas exploration and production.  Its services enable coalbed natural gas developers the information they need to increase gas production.
