New Report Indicates More Recoverable Natural Gas in Wyoming Basins Than Previously Reported

More Evidence that Technology Development Could Radically Enhance Availability of Natural Gas

Morgantown, WV - The Greater Green River and Wind River basins in Wyoming could hold significantly more technically recoverable natural gas than previously reported, including recently-completed estimates of gas resources produced in response to the Energy Policy and Conservation Act (EPCA) of 2000. In fact, in the Greater Green River Basin alone, the technically-recoverable natural gas may be up to 4.5 times more than reported in the EPCA study.

An assessment entitled "Natural Gas Resources of the Greater Green River and Wind River Basins of Wyoming," was completed recently through a two-year cooperative agreement between EG&G Technical Services of West Virginia, Advanced Resources International, Inc. of Virginia, and the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL).

The complete assessment is available on CD and is free of charge. In addition to detailed descriptions of project methodology and results, the CD contains numerous detailed maps and cross-sections that depict the regional geology of key gas-bearing formations.

For more information about the project, or to order a copy of the CD, go to www.netl.doe.gov/scng, and click on:
