Freeport LNG Development, L.P. Application to Export LNG

The Office of Fossil Energy gives notice of receipt of a blanket application filed on August 1, 2008 by Freeport LNG Development, L.P. to export  on a short-term or spot market basis up to 24 Bcf of previously imported LNG cumulatively over a two year period  from the United States to the following international desitinations: United Kingdom, Belgium, Spain, Japan, South Korea, India, China, Taiwan, France and Italy.  Environmental Assessment (EA) issued by FERC March 2009. Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) issued by DOE May 27, 2009. Amendment filed September 1, 2009.  Order 2644 granting authorization to export liquefied natural gas issued May 28, 2009. Order 2644-A issued to include the export of previously imported LNG. 

On March 4, 2010, Freeport LNG filed an application requesting an amendment to its blanket authorization to export previously imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) granted by Order 2644, and amendment on September 22, 2009, in Order 2644-A. Freeport LNG seeks authorization to export foreign-sourced LNG from its Quintana Island, Texas facilities to any other country (in addition to those already specifically listed in Order 2664, as amended) with capacity to import LNG via ocean-going carrier and with which trade is not prohibited by U.S. law or policy.  A Federal Register Notice was published on March 23, 2010, (75 FR 13755). Comments and motions were due April 22, 2010.  NO COMMENTS WERE RECEIVED. Order 2644-B issued May 11, 2010 amending export.
