The Office of Fossil Energy gives notice of receipt of an Application filed January 12, 2012, by Freeport LNG Expansion, L.P. and FLNG Liquefaction, LLC (collectively, FLEX), seeking a long-term multi-contract authorization to export domestically produced liquefied natural gas (LNG) up to the equivalent of 511 billion cubic feet of natural gas per year to Free Trade Agreement (FTA) countries. Authorization is for a 25-year period commencing on the earlier of the date of first export or eight years from the date the authorization is issued. FLEX proposes to export LNG from the Freeport LNG Terminal on Quintana Island, Texas, to any country with which the United States has, or in the future enters into, an FTA requiring national treatment for trade in natural gas, and which has, or in the future develops, the capacity to import LNG via ocean going carrier. A federal register notice will not be issued. Order 3066 issued 2/10/12 granting export of LNG to FTA countries.
