Barbara Nance McKee is Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Affairs, Office of Fossil Energy, U.S. Department of Energy. In this position, Ms. McKee is responsible for the management and direction of Fossil Energy’s international programs, which include the international activities associated with coal, oil and natural gas. Additionally, the Office of International Affairs is responsible for the Secretariat of the Carbon Sequestration Leadership Forum (CSLF).
Ms. McKee is Chairman of the World Energy Council’s Committee on Cleaner Fossil Fuels Systems which has 35 member nations and six international organizations. She is also Vice Chairman of the International Energy Agency's Working Party on Fossil Fuels which functions in Paris and has 21 member nations. She is Vice Chairman of the United Nation's Economic Commission for Europe's Committee on Sustainable Energy which has 55 member states. Ms. McKee is Vice Chairman of the International Energy Agency Clean Coal Center which is located in London. She served previously as its Chairman from 1994 to 1998. Ms. McKee is also Director of Carbon Sequestration Leadership Forum Secretariat.
Ms. McKee is an alumna of Tuskegee University and Harvard University. She is a native of South Carolina.
